The Indian River Lagoon stretches more than 150 miles along Florida’s east coast — from Ponce Inlet near New Smyrna Beach all the way south to Jupiter Inlet. It’s not a river at all, but a living mosaic: part ocean, part freshwater marsh, part ancient story.
Scientists call it the most biologically diverse estuary in North America, with over 4,300 species of plants and animals.
2016 – Present
The Save Our Indian River Lagoon” launches in Brevard County. Billions of dollars pledged to restore wetlands, upgrade wastewater, and replant seagrasses.
Future — Our Hands
Every yard, classroom, and conversation shapes the Lagoon’s next chapter. Reducing fertilizer use, restoring marshes, and teaching our children how to love this water are acts of hope. 🌿
